Lubbock County medical examiner's office breaks ground

LUBBOCK – Ground has broken on the county’s new state-of-the-art Medical Examiner’s Office Building. This comes after $35.4 million was approved to construct the new facility last year.

The funding will be supplemented by $10 million in previously allocated American Rescue Plan Act funds for what’s expected to be a nearly $45 million, 31,440-sf office on N. Holly Ave.

Even though the new facility will meet the county’s needs for decades to come, the lot includes room for expansion.

Construction is expected to last 18-22 months.
