JCB eyeing Alamo City for large industrial project

SAN ANTONIO – JCB, one of the world’s largest construction and agricultural equipment manufacturers, is looking at a 400-acre site for its potential new $265 million plant. The land is between the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas Inc. manufacturing plant and Texas A&M University San Antonio’s campus.

Working on behalf of JCB, land use law firm Killen, Griffin & Farrimond has requested a “Specialized Center” Designation that would allow for heavy industrial zoning, including manufacturing, according to the Heritage South Sector Plan.

Current plans state the industrial plant will be about 720,000 sf. JCB expects to hire more than 1,500 employees within the first five years.

The economic impact from JCB’s San Antonio project is expected to approach $30 billion.
