Big neighborhoods coming to small towns

SAN ANTONIO – Cities on the fringe of the emerging “metroplex” between Austin and San Antonio may see a lot of new faces in the coming years.

An approximately 1,185-home subdivision called Haney Park is proposed for 245 acres in Hays County. It would be in the extra-territorial jurisdiction of Uhland.

In addition to the homes, Haney Park LLC’s development would have three commercial lots and an 18-acre lot for multifamily residential.

Haney Park could be built in five phases, with phase I expected in 2025, and the final phase being platted in 2033.

Meanwhile, a subdivision only 15 miles away in Caldwell County could have 1,649 homes on 688 acres. Luna Rosa, at 3680 Lytton Lane in Dale, would be built in six phases with quarter-acre minimum lot sizes.

In addition to the single-family residences, Luna Rosa will have 36 limited commercial lots and an on-site wastewater treatment facility.

Luna Rosa is being developed by Cayetano Development LLC. The land is owned by Rancho Bell LLC.
