GEORGETOWN – After 25 years of supplying the biggest chipmakers in the world from its current location, Schunk Xycarb Technology Inc. is expanding with a 140,000-sf facility at 200 Velocity Dr.
The production facility for semiconductor quartz will include a clean room and a high-purity cleaning system, and it will allow them to expand an automation component of their business.
Construction is set to break ground by the end of the year, and the company expects to move into the new space by the end of 2024.
SXT has been operating out of a 40,000-sf facility at 101 SE Inner Loop Dr. From there, they provide quartz and other mineral-ware products that are used in the semiconductor fabrication and other processes.
The project has an estimated cost of $40 million.
