MIDLAND – Construction of the Permian Basin Behavioral Health Center, a joint project between Midland and Ector County Hospitals, is underway.
The 225,000-sf facility will be near the Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center on land donated by Diamondback.
Designers have been selecting design materials and color palettes in hopes the environment will be a serene space for patients to concentrate on their treatment. The center integrates elements like natural light and outdoor spaces to facilitate therapeutic activities.
The Texas legislature appropriated $86.7 million for PBBHC, so long as the facility can house 200 beds. In total, $126.7 million in state appropriations was secured for the center. The fundraising goal is to reach $225 million.
Phase two is set to commence in late April 2024 and will be completed by 2025.
