Downtown industrial building converting to senior living

SAN ANTONIO – The city zoning commission has approved an affordable senior housing project from local organizations American Agape Foundation and Partners in Community Development.

The change in land use paves the way for the developers to rehab a defunct industrial property at 421 N. Medina St. into a 48-unit senior affordable housing community, currently dubbed The Lofts at Grocer.

In addition to the residential units, the Lofts at Grocer will have 21,000 sf of office space and 2,000 sf of community space.

Forty-two units will have one bedroom with the remaining having two bedrooms.

The project is pending approval from the Historic and Design Review Commission because of the downtown location’s historic landmark status.
