Lubbock planning $18M waste transfer station

LUBBOCK – The Lubbock Zoning and Planning committee has approved a new $18 million waste transfer station.

The city has owned the lot north of Marsha Sharp Fwy. between Upland and Alcove Avenues since August 2023.

The facilities are very common in larger cities and are much more pleasing to the eye, according to a city council member who visited a similar facility in Dallas.

The facility’s construction will also make trash pick up much easier, as the average Lubbock garbage truck spends about four hours traveling to and from the landfill.
