'Vibrant mixed-use, mixed-income community' planned for Austin's St. John site

AUSTIN – The St. John site off I-35 near St. Johns Ave. is officially under a master development agreement contract between the city and Greystar Development Central LLC.

The MDA, a collaboration with the city’s housing authority, aims to redevelop the 19-acre, city-owned site into a “vibrant mixed-use, mixed-income community featuring open spaces and commercial services,” the announcement stated.

The development will have 526 units, with 50 percent designated as income-restricted affordable housing.

The St. John Pocket Park will also be expanded, complete with walking trails and a splash pad.
