$800 million El Paso data center in the works

EL PASO – The city is in the process of selling 1,039 acres of vacant land to Wurldwide Inc. for an $800 million data center.

The land along Stan Roberts Sr. Ave. is being sold for $8.5 million.

The city council plans on giving Wurldwide tax rebates in return for the investment. The council approved creating a reinvestment zone for the large tract of land to make it eligible for tax abatement agreements.

The land is to be rezoned from heavy manufacturing to commercial to allow the data center to locate there.

Wurldwide has until April 2024 to back out of the contract.
