Construction of Canyon Creek Fire Station to break ground this month

AUSTIN – Construction on a joint fire and EMT station at 9804 N. RM 620 Rd. is set to begin this month following the approval of a contract with JE Dunn Construction Inc.

The $20 million facility will serve northwest Austin and communities in Canyon Creek, River Place, and Anderson Mill.

The station will have a four-lane garage, one fire engine, one wildfire brush truck, and one ambulance, as well as solar panels and a rain garden to assist with runoff and collection.

Not long ago, the city put forth a plan to build five new stations in high-need areas to meet their goal of 90 percent of emergency response times to be under eight minutes. The Canyon Creek facility is the fifth and final fire station under that plan to begin construction.

Construction is estimated to wrap up in October 2024.
