12-acre life science campus opens in The Woodlands

THE WOODLANDS – Alexandria Real Estate Equities Inc. has opened the Alexandria Center for Advanced Technologies at 8800 Technology Forest Place.

Alexandria acquired the campus in 2020, demolished two of the previous four buildings, and gutted the other two down to the studs and concrete before rebuilding them in a new design.

A four-story parking garage was built on the southwest side of the property. There’s also a park in the center of the campus with sitting areas, bocce ball courts, and fire pits.

On the northwest side of the campus, there are courts used for pickleball and basketball.

The property also includes collaborative space, a gym, a conference center, and a food service area.

Alexandria will add another three-story, 116,000-sf building on the space of the demolished structures.

At buildout, the campus will have 325,000 sf of building space and cost more than $200 million.

Gensler designed the campus, and DPR Construction served as the general contractor.
