Lake Travis High School to spend big bucks on extracurricular facility additions

LAKE TRAVIS – Claycomb Associate Architects have revealed their design for the new athletic and fine arts additions coming to Lake Travis High School.

The proposed 2,500-seat arena would hold over three times the number of people as the campus’ existing round gym and have a 94-foot professional-level basketball court. There will be space for nearly 1,000 additional seats as well.

The arena will have a lobby with a spirit shop and seating area; press box; concession stand; locker rooms; weight rooms; coaching offices; dressing rooms; and extra storage spaces.

An 84-foot competition gym will connect to the fine arts practice areas and the new practice turf field. The new space would be next to the high school’s performing arts center and annex.

The plan also includes four new art classrooms.

Voters approved $43 million for the gym and $15.3 million for the fine arts additions in elections last year.

The school district will break ground on the new facilities in 2024 and build more parking spaces by next school year.

The current timeline allows for another six months of work on the design phase, up to 12 months for permitting, and 18 months for construction.
