LONGVIEW – Harrison County commissioners unanimously approved a tax abatement agreement with poultry breeding company Aviagen North America for its planned chicken hatchery in the Longview Business Park.
The agreement includes a 50 percent abatement of property taxes for ten years for the $24 million facility. The City of Longview approved a similar tax abatement agreement in March.
The 88,000-sf hatchery will be a genetics lab that incubates and hatches breeder chicks to be shipped worldwide. It will be on 15.7 acres provided by the city’s economic development corporation.
The new business calls for the creation of at least 69 jobs during the next couple of years. Construction is expected to be finished in February 2023.
