Work starts on New Braunfels elementary school

​​NEW BRAUNFELS – The New Braunfels Independent School District has broken ground on a new elementary school at 659 S. Guenther Ave. 

Designed by Stantec Architecture, th​e school will be the district’s first two-story elementary. It will replace Carl Shurz and Seele Elementary Schools, which were built in 1935 and 1950, respectively. 

The school will accommodate around 850 students when it opens in August 2023.​

The site houses the former Ninth Grade Center, which will be demolished. 

Cadence McShane is the developer. Construction will cost around $29 million.​​
