EL PASO – Clark Construction Group has been hired to lead construction on the William Beaumont Army Medical Center complex, which will replace the almost 30-year-old El Paso VA medical center at 5001 N. Piedras St.
The 493,000-sf VA facility will be on a 36-acre site on the Fort Bliss Army post.
The new facility will provide enhanced outpatient healthcare services for more than 43,000 military veterans enrolled in the El Paso VA system.
Infrastructure and facility changes will include a central energy plant, access roads, site lighting, surface parking, and landscaping.
Clark Construction was awarded the $617.5 million construction contract for the project in Dec. by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
SmithGroup, an architectural and engineering firm, and HKS, a global architectural firm, will design the VA facility as part of Clark’s construction team.
Construction is expected to begin by late summer or early fall, with completion projected for late 2029 or early 2030.
