SAN ANTONIO – The city’s zoning commission has approved the development of The Claudette, an affordable housing development planned on the site of a former charter school at 137 University Ave.
The complex, which would add 119 apartments to the uptown neighborhood, is the result of a partnership between Partners in Community Development and Youth Empowerment Services Inc. The landowner, Y.E.S. Charter Schools, is also part of the deal.
The project will be funded in part by 9 percent state low-income housing tax credits.
Efficiency units and one- and two-bedroom units will be offered at rents of 30 percent, 50 percent, and 60 percent of the AMI. Some units will be offered at 80 percent AMI, which project leaders refer to as “market rate.”
Amenities will include green space, a learning and business center, and a pre-K center.
