GALVESTON – The Galveston Bay Foundation has acquired 63 acres for a $1 million private land conservation project to protect against future development.
Known as Redfish Cove, the property is on the western region of the island and includes about 40 acres of estuarine and tidal wetlands.
The project is being funded through a $1 million grant that was recently awarded by the National Costal Wetlands Conservation Grant Program.
Most of the land is in its natural state, but about ten acres have been developed to be sold into lots for house.
