Amazon project details revealed as company seeks rezoning

ROUND ROCK – Amazon.com plans to establish zoning for a planned unit development for roughly 150 acres along CR 172 and McNeil Rd., north of SH 45. The zoning would allow the company to build a warehouse, data center, and electrical substation.

The first 65 acres would be used for an Amazon last-mile delivery station, where packages that are ready for shipment are brought into the building, sorted, and loaded onto delivery trucks to bring to customers within a 50-mile radius.

The delivery station would create 200 jobs, not including delivery service providers. The plan is to start construction by the end of 2024 and complete it within 12 months.

The company plans to turn the other 85 acres into a data center, although it could be a much larger, robot-sorting warehouse and distribution center like Amazon’s site in Pflugerville.
