FORT CAVAZOS – An aquifer storage and recovery project for Fort Cavazos got the go-ahead Wednesday after the Bell County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 approved Intera Incorporated and Andrews and Foster of Athens for drilling services.
The well will be drilled around 1,000 ft deep. The water they are trying to access is the Lower Trinity, part of the Trinity Aquifer.
The project should provide four million gallons per day. The water will be used as emergency supply during summer peaks.
The installation’s ASR system will be in Camp Arrowhead, south of N. Nolan Rd. near Belton Lake.
Drilling services for the project will cost around $480,000.
