New University Health hospital's grand opening imminent

​SAN ANTONIO – University Health is putting the finishing touches on a new Women’s and Children’s Hospital that will span 1.1 million sf in the South Texas Medical Center.

Set to open in August, the 12-story tower will have 300 beds and a Women’s Center for OB-GYN services that spans nearly 58,000 sf. It will include labor and delivery suites, a dedicated children’s emergency department, and a Level 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)​​ and Maternity Center.

The new hospital’s NICU facilities include private rooms as well as family lounge spaces and technology allowing parents to check in on their newborn remotely.

A new parking structure and three-story attached building with pharmacy, dining, and other associated spaces are included in the $749 million expansion.
