El Paso Water offering free appliances, rebates on water-efficient toilets

EL PASO – The Cash for your Commode rebate program, which started in the ’90s, is back and has already helped the local utility company conserve about 41 million gallons of water per year.

The program offers $50 rebates to customers who purchase water-efficient toilets, such as Watersense toilets.

El Paso Water conservation specialist Alex Fashing said rebates are offered on a “first come, first serve” basis, and the utility company has enough money to rebate 800 toilets. Customers can apply for the rebate online.

El Paso Water is also offering free Watersense aerators and showerheads to all customers.

The aerators force air into the water stream while maintaining pressure but still reducing water consumption. Watersense showerheads are engineered for water conservation as well.

El Paso Water says there is no limit on these free appliances, and they will continue to restock appliances if customers are interested. All customers must do to receive them is go to the Tech H2O facility.
