HOUSTON – Southern Land Co. is planning a large mixed-use project on a two-acre site at 2811 Kirby Dr. The Nashville-based firm purchased the land in March.
Plans call for a 36-story apartment tower and a shorter second building with 75,000 sf of office space and 22,000 sf of rooftop and ground-floor restaurant and retail space.
The site previously housed a Wells Fargo bank and Hard Rock Cafe.
The residential component will have 318 apartments, including 18 penthouses. Amenities will include a pool on the 36th floor, seventh-floor garden deck, spa, guest suites and spaces shared by office tenants such as a fitness center.
The office building will have three floors of offices starting on the seventh floor above a garage.
The apartment tower will connect with the office building via a rooftop garden.
Construction is expected to begin next spring and continue through 2026.
