Brazos Valley gets renewable natural gas plant

ANDERSON – The Brazos Valley Solid Waste Management Agency recently unveiled its new renewable natural gas plant at Twin Oaks Landfill.

Morrow Energy, a natural gas-treating equipment supplier out of Midland, came to Brazos County to help create the plant.

The plant can capture landfill gas—a natural byproduct of the decomposition of organic materials within Twin Oaks Landfill—and distribute it on the energy market as renewable power.

City leaders say this will create clean energy while also providing some financial relief for residents.

“We are able to take out profits and lower the trash collection rates for our citizens as well as a 17-region area,” said College Station City Councilman Dennis Maloney.
