SAN ANTONIO – Hemisfair’s new Civic Park is almost ready for San Antonians to enjoy.
Hemisfair has announced an official opening date—Sept. 29—in conjunction with the 40th annual Jazz’SAlive festival.
Hemisfair broke ground on the park project in January 2022 to convert five acres into an event space that will fit up to 15,000 people and revamp areas near the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.
Around 200 trees will be planted to spruce up the planned promenade, great lawn, and green space. Other planned projects for the Hemisfair area include a new 17-story hotel tower that will overlook Civic Park, a 28-story mixed use tower, and a boutique hotel that should open in 2024.
Jazz’SAlive is one of the largest free jazz festivals in the country, with stages for musicians, local vendors, and activities.
