RentCafe: Plano top Texas city for renters

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. ​– A new RentCafe report has ranked ​​the best U.S. cities for renters, and Texas cities shined brightest. ​Plano, Round Rock, Austin, and Conroe all made the top ten. 

Plano ranked second overall with a cost-of-living and housing ranking of 68, local economy ranking of two, and quality of life ranking of six. 

Round Rock came in sixth overall, and ranked second in housing cost, 18th in economy, and 24th in quality of life. 

Right behind Round Rock was Austin at 7th. Austin scored tenth in housing, 11th in economy, and 27th in quality of life. 

Conroe ranked first for housing and living costs, but 29th in economy and 42nd in quality of life. That gave the city a final ranking​ of 9th. 

RentCafe used data from Yardi Matrix to determine each city’s ranking among three major categories: cost of living and housing, the local economy, and quality of life. Cities were chosen if they had a minimum apartment stock of 10,000 units. One-hundred thirty-six cities were included in the list.
