New owners to restore Galveston’s Payco Marina

GALVESTON – A restoration project of the now-named Galveston Causeway Marina and Shipyard at 9004 Blume Dr. is underway after it suffered damage from Hurricane Ike.

Bill Cochrane and his son Bubba acquired the formerly Payco Marina from Tommie and Debbie Payne last month.

The project entails cleaning up the 19.5-acre property, including removing several abandoned boats, and, once city permits are acquired, repairing all the bulkheads and rebuilding 50 wet slips.

Plans to remove the floating Galveston Bait & Tackle shop on the property and build a three-story building in its place with the bait shop on the bottom and a restaurant and observation deck on top are down the line.
