WACO – Waco Water Services is taking inventory of their water lines, as recommended by the Environmental Protection Agency, to make sure the city’s water supply has not been contaminated by lead or copper.
If a customer service line is deemed unusable, the city will provide a pitcher and filters to reduce lead exposure. However, the replacement of these pipes is the responsibility of the customer.
Proactive measures have already been taken to ensure pipe material does not infiltrate customer’s homes. The efforts are so successful that the city has been allowed to adhere to a schedule of reduced testing since 2007.
The inventory started in March 2023 and is expected to be completed by October 2024.
