AUSTIN – The city council has approved the implementation of a subsidy-free, density bonus program called Opportunity Unlocked. The program is intended to increase the amount of affordable housing available in the area.
The program incentivizes contractors to increase the number of bedrooms in new builds. It also allows for multifamily units to be built on single-family lots.
The program’s ordinance will be up for approval at the Oct. 19 council meeting.
