SAN DIEGO – Here’s some good news not only for bees, but also for Texas landowners: online lawn care information site Lawn Love has ranked the Lone Star State as the fourth best state for beekeeping.
Here’s how Texas stacked up in the study’s key metrics:
-
fifth in total annual colony loss,
-
third in value of honey production,
-
third in number of apiculture (a fancy word for “beekeeping”) establishments, and
-
ninth for number of beekeepers associations.
According to Texas A&M AgriLife Research and the Texas A&M Forest Service, beekeeping qualifies for an Ag Valuation on property taxes. Click here for more info.
