MARFA – Austin startup ICON and hotelier Liz Lambert are partnering on Sunday Homes, a luxury community that will have 30 to 40 houses constructed using ICON’s 3D printing technology.
ICON developed its printer, the Vulcan 3D, that uses a mix of concrete, plasticizer, aluminum, calcium, silicates and water as a filament, or the ink, to 3D print the homes. The filament flows out of the printer like thick, concrete-like ribbons stacked on top of each other.
Houses will start at $900,000, and buyers can reserve one with $5,000. Homes will range from 1,200 to 2,400 sf.
Construction is expected to start in 2024.
