COLLEGE STATION – David Jones, communications director and senior editor at the Texas Real Estate Research Center (TRERC) at Texas A&M University, has retired after nearly 50 years of service.
Jones graduated from Texas A&M University in 1964 before working as a reporter at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. He joined the TRERC staff in 1975. His credits include creating TG magazine, RECON, Total RECall, and the calendar format for TRERC’s annual report. Under Jones’ direction, the TRERC communications team earned some 250 awards.
“David is a creative force,” said TRERC Executive Director Gary Maler. “He’s steadfast, steady, bright, and totally committed to the Center and Texas A&M. He loves this school and the Center, and he has helped put us on the map. He’s a fixture at the Center, and it will never be the same without him.”
Jones is an Accredited Business Communicator and 50-year member of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). He is a member of the IABC Southern Region’s Hall of Fame.
In 2018, he received the President’s Meritorious Service Award from Texas A&M. He’s also a member of the College Station Noon Lions Club Hall of Fame and a Vietnam veteran.
