SHERMAN – GlobiTech Inc. will build a manufacturing facility that could create 1,500 jobs and generate up to $5 billion in capital investment.
The facility will provide silicon epitaxy products and services for the company, a subsidiary of Taiwanese manufacturer GlobalWafers Co.
A $15 million Texas Enterprise Fund grant has been extended to GlobiTech. The state also offered a $10,000 Veteran Created Job Bonus for the company.
The Dallas Morning News reported last week that Sherman was using up to $34 million in incentives to lure the company.
The Sherman City Council, the Grayson County Commissioners Court and the Grayson College Board of Trustees approved proposed tax abatements and rebates for GlobiTech. In addition, the Sherman Economic Development Corp. had already approved an incentive package for the deal.
