AMARILLO –Demolition work has begun on three warehouses across from the Amarillo Hardware Building. This will become a parking lot for the new city hall and will serve as a staging area for construction.
The city council allocated $139,700 for the demolition and removal of these buildings, which will be complete within three weeks.
Construction on the new city hall will conclude in November 2023 with an estimated total cost of $35 million. Once complete, this project will have twice the space of the current, 55-year-old city hall.
