HOUSTON – Project 11, the expansion of the 52-mile channel that runs from the Gulf of Mexico into Houston, is underway.
On completion, the channel will be widened by 170 feet and deepened by up to 46.5 feet in the upstream segments.
The ship channel expansion will be completed in phases over the next 3.5 years and is estimated to cost $1 billion.
