Laredo a top city for starting a business

​​​​​WASHINGTON – Laredo has ranked third on WalletHub’s list of the top large cities in which to start a business​. 

The South Texas city ranked eighth in access to resources, tenth in business environment, and 45th in business costs. It was also third in most accessible funding. 

Austin, Fort Worth, and Dallas were the only other Texas cities in the top 20, ranking 11th, 15th, and 20th, respectively​​. 

The Texas Capital was fourth in business environment, 16th in access to resources, and 81st in business costs. It also tied with Boise, Idaho, for the highest average growth in number of small businesses. 

Fort Worth was 14th in access to resources, 15th in business environment, and 69th in business costs. Dallas was 20th in business environment, 32nd in access to resources, and 65th in business costs. It was third in the longest average work week. 

Lubbock, which was 36th overall, was second in most accessible funding. 

The rest of the top five cities were: 

  • No. 1 Orlando, Fla.;

  • No. 2 Miami;

  • No. 4 Durham, N.C.; and 

  • No. 5 Boise, Idaho.​​​
