Houston Habitat for Humanity starts on affordable housing neighborhood

HOUSTON – Houston Habitat for Humanity has broken ground on Robins Landing, a 127-acre master-planned community.

The project near Tidwell Rd. and Mesa Dr. will serve low- to moderate-income area residents.

Robins Landing will have more than 450 single-family homes with 100 being built by Houston Habitat for Humanity. Those 100 homes will be exclusively for those earning 80 percent or below the area median income and will be sold through the Habitat for Humanity Homeownership program.

The other homes, sold by CastleRock Communities and Chesmar Homes, will be for households earning 120 percent the area median income or less.

The community will also have a 12-acre central park with access to hike-and-bike trails, community garden, neighborhood resilience hub, and town center with a health clinic and public library branch.

Homes will break ground this fall after infrastructure, streets, and utilities have been completed.
