NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Last year, 70,314 homes in Texas received a Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index Score, more than any other state.
Last year, there were 313,153 homes HERS rated in the country, pushing the to-date total to over 3.3 million. The previous record was from 2020 with 299,775 homes rated.
The average HERS Index Score in 2021 was 58.
“This is 42 percent more efficient than homes built as recently as 2006 and 72 percent more efficient than a typical home built in the 1970s,” said Steve Baden, RESNET executive director.
The rest of the top five states for number of HERS-rated homes were Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, and Colorado.
