Three Texas cities among best places for construction workers

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Three Texas cities have landed on Builder Magazine‘s list of the five best cities for construction workers in 2021.

Dallas, Houston, and Austin were first, second, and fourth on the ranking, respectively.

Dallas has a 4-to-1 worker-to-permit ratio and had more permits than any other major city in February. Construction has also returned to pre-pandemic levels.

Houston issued the nation’s second-highest number of building permits in February. The city also had high marks for its modest cost of living and high construction wages.

Austin had the third-highest number of permits issued in February. The Texas Capital also has a desperate need to build homes.

The only non-Texas cities on the list were No. 4 Minneapolis and No. 5 Phoenix.
