ANGLETON – Gambit Energy Storage, a Tesla subsidiary, is building a utility-scale battery operation that will be connected to the Texas electric grid.
The 100-megawatt project could power up to 20,000 homes on a summer day.
The project will be able to discharge power into the electric grid at the Texas New Mexico Power Company’s substation at W. Locust and N. Walker Streets.
When it comes online this year, the Gambit Energy Storage Park will store power when energy prices are low and discharge electricity into the system when the grid has a power shortage.
