HOUSTON – The Houston Parks Board has started work on San Jacinto Greenway project.
The $3.94 million project will create green space in an area that has historically flooded along the west fork of the San Jacinto River.
It will include a 2.5-mile trail from Woodland Hills Dr. at River Grove Park to Burning Tree Court near the Forest Cove community. It will have hike and bike trails, seating areas, native flora, directional signage, and trash and recycling bins.
Parking for parkgoers will be in the former Riverview Townhomes at Forest Cove community, which has been abandoned since Hurricane Harvey in August 2017.
The greenway will eventually connect to the second phase of Edgewater Park.
