WASHINGTON – WalletHub has named Texas the best state to drive in.
Ranking first overall, the Lone Star State was second in access to vehicles and maintenance, 16th in cost of ownership and maintenance, 18th in safety, and 33rd in traffic and infrastructure.
Texas was also third in lowest average gas prices, behind only Mississippi and Missouri, and third in most car washes per capita, trailing California and Florida.
The state was fifth in fewest days with precipitation.
Last year, Texas was named the fourth-best state for driving.
The remaining four best states to drive in are Indiana, North Carolina, Iowa, and Tennessee.
To determine the rankings, WalletHub compared the 50 states using 31 metrics across four key dimensions.
