WASHINGTON – Dallas-Fort Worth is set to complete over 19,300 new multifamily units this year, more than any other U.S. metro, according to RentCafé.
DFW has ranked first in new apartments for three years in a row.
No. 3 Houston and No. 5 Austin are expected to deliver 10,400 and 9,300 apartment units this year, respectively.
No. 19 San Antonio was the only other Texas metro in the top 20 and is expected to deliver nearly 4,600 units.
No. 2 New York and No. 4 Atlanta rounded out the top five.
San Antonio, Houston, and Austin have all seen an uptick in apartment construction this year, growing 20 percent, 9 percent, and 2 percent, respectively.
Dallas-Fort Worth is the only Texas metro on the list to see a reduction in new apartments, with expected deliveries dropping 29 percent.
