DALLAS-FORT WORTH – The second quarter saw retail net absorption in negative territory for the first time in over two years, according to CBRE.
Many major closures in the metro contributed to this, including 11 24 Hour Fitness locations and the Nordstrom at North East Mall in Hurst.
Occupancy also took a hit, dropping 40 basis points from the previous quarter.
Retail sales spiked up 17.7 percent in May, following a record collapse in March and April. Clothing/accessories and furniture stores saw the highest gains that month.
