Historic SA home to become hotel and restaurant

SAN ANTONIO – Developer Weston Urban (WB) plans to convert a historic San Antonio home into a hotel and restaurant.

The Koehler House was sold to WB by Alamo Colleges for $2 million. The 1901 home is at 310 West Ashby Place.

The developer’s site plan is to restore the main house, convert the two-story carriage house into a restaurant, restore a greenhouse, and construct a new pavilion.

City council recently approved zoning changes benefiting the project, such as allowing the hotel to serve alcohol within 300 ft of a school, and a classification shift from “neighborhood mixed-use” to “regional mixed-use.”

Don B. McDonald Architects is designing the project.
