Houston non-profit Covenant House getting new facility

HOUSTON – Covenant House is updating its campus at the intersection of Lovett and Yoakum Boulevards.

The $47.2 million property will have a commercial kitchen, career center, outdoor courtyard, recreational facilities, library, and office space.

The new space will enable Covenant House to provide shelter for up to 52 homeless youth, an over 50 percent increase in capacity.

Covenant House will work from a temporary facility at 3412 Beulah St. until construction is complete.

Funds came from the city, Harris County, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas, and other loans and campaigns.

Gensler designed the updated campus.
