New Braunfels master-planned community moving forward

​NEW BRAUNFELS – Loca​lly based SouthStar Communities moving forward with its 1,880-acre master-planned community in northern Comal County.

The project is within the city’​s extraterritorial jurisdiction, However, a recent development agreement gives the city some oversight​​​ in the planning, permitting, and public park operation. 

Called Mayfair, the mixed-use project will include:

• nearly ​6,000 homes, 

• over 70 acres of commercial property, 

• over 120 acres of mixed-use development, 

• more than ​300 acres of public parks, 

• a 160-acre employment park, and 

• four new Comal Independent School District schools. 

Construction begins this year, and the first homes will deliver in 2023.​

Mayfair is expected to generate 2,000 permanent jobs over the next 15 years.
