Plano one of America's safest cities

​​​​WASHINGTON – Plano took the number three spot on WalletHub’s rankings of 2020’s safest​​ cities in America, trailing only Columbia, Md., and South Burlington, Vt.

The Collin County city ranked third in home and community safety, 30th in financial safety, and 113th in natural disaster risk. 

Plano also ranked third on last year’s list.​

No. 43 Brownsville and No. 49 Laredo were the only other Texas cities to be in the top 50.  

Brownsville and No. 86 Corpus Christi were second and third in lowest natural disaster risk, respectively.

No. 144 El Paso and Corpus Christi were fourth and fifth in fewest hate crimes per capita, respectively. 

Nashua, N.H., and Lewiston, Maine, rounded out the top five rankings.​

To determine the rankings, WalletHub compared 182 cities across three key dimensions: home and community safety, natural disaster risk, and financial safety.
