NEW CANEY – As the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) continues its $855 million Grand Parkway (SH 99) expansion project, some SH 59 lanes will temporarily shut down for construction crews to build bridges over the highway.
The work will be done in several phases over the next three to four months beginning mid-April, according to Grand Parkway Infrastructure LLC, the contractor of the TxDOT project.
The first set of main lane closures will be the southbound lanes from south of Walton Ave. to north of FM 1314 on April 17 between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.
The southbound closure will begin at the FM 1314 and Porter/Conroe exit.
The second set of main lane closures will be northbound lanes from north of FM 1314 to north of the Grand Parkway and SH 59 overpass on April 18 between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.
The northbound closure will begin at the Community Dr. exit.
Grand Parkway segments H, I-1 and I-2—which span 52.8 miles—are set to open in spring 2022.
